The first historic mention of the village was in 1280/85 in a town registry in nearby Eppstein. In the 1880’s Lorsbach flourished as a location for leather factories.
The decline of the leather industry in Germany began in the post-war period, leaving behind historical buildings, beautiful landscapes and quaint neighbourhoods. Both locals and visitors like to go walking or hiking along the well-marked trails, which stretch from the "Gundelhardt" restaurant to the "Walterstein" - a rock-climbing area - or further on to the Eppstein Castle
Lorsbach also has a S2 suburban train line, which offers a direct connection to Frankfurt.
The town was incorporated into Hofheim in 1972 and has a population of 2,727.
